Cheats

The Cheats menu: vehicle spawner, God mode, Never wanted, money, weather and story cheats.

During Story mode or Sandbox play, open Settings › Cheats. Everything on this page works with touch, a controller or a keyboard, and nothing on it changes your game files or your saves (unless you save the game afterwards, like after any cheat).

Spawn vehicle

Settings › Cheats › Spawn vehicle lists every vehicle your game has, including the DLC vehicles of your game version, with the names the game itself shows (in the game's language). A vehicle the game files have no name for shows its model name instead. Search by name, model name (such as adder) or type (Super, Boats, Helicopters...). The model name under each one tells apart versions the game gives the same name.

Tap a vehicle: Settings closes, the game resumes and the vehicle appears a few metres in front of you. Enter spawned vehicle chooses whether you get in automatically.

  • Aircraft need open space and boats need water.
  • The menu keeps your last two spawned vehicles. Spawning another removes one of them that nobody is in, so spawned cars don't pile up and use memory. If someone is in both, the spawn is declined.
  • If memory is low, the spawn is declined with a message instead of risking a crash. Go somewhere quieter, or use a lower graphics preset.
  • Trains aren't listed: a single carriage off its track can't be used.

God mode and Never wanted

Two switches that stay on until you turn them off, through deaths, respawns and character switches:

  • God mode: nothing can hurt you.
  • Never wanted: clears your wanted stars and keeps new ones away. Turning it off gives the police back their usual limit.

You can flip them while Settings is open; they take effect when you're back in the game. Both are off again the next time the app starts. Turn them off for missions that need you to take damage or be chased by the police, or those missions may not continue.

Repair, clean, time and weather

  • Repair vehicle fixes and cleans the vehicle you're in; Clean vehicle only washes it.
  • Time of day sets the clock to 06:00, 12:00, 18:00 or 00:00. The clock keeps running from there.
  • Weather picks clear skies, extra sunny, cloudy, overcast, rain, thunderstorm or fog. Natural weather goes back to the game's own changing weather. Missions can change the weather too.

These happen once Settings closes and the game is back in normal play (not in a cutscene, the pause menu or a loading screen). A note at the top of the screen says when it's done, or why it couldn't be.

Set money and the game's own cheats

Set money gives the character you're playing (Michael, Franklin or Trevor) the amount you type. Save the game to keep it.

Below that are the game's own story cheats (invincibility for 5 minutes, weapons, raise or lower the wanted level, Buzzard, Comet...). Settings closes and the app presses the controller buttons for you, which takes a few seconds; the controls don't respond meanwhile.
